SleepArchive

Ok, I promised this track quite a few days ago and thankfully my server has decided to be cooperative.

After much reading this is the first complete track I have heard from SleepArchive. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Something in the Basic Channel tradition? I knew they mastered for him and he was starkly minimal. I was suprised when I finally heard him. To my mind it is very traditional. In fact, it inspired a dig around in my collection to find something to post alongside him. Turns out my cds from that time are all gone, and I am just too damn lazy to pull out the Robert Hood 12"s and record them to mp3. So I guess you will just have to take my word for it. Although I find Robert Hood even more stark than this.

Many have mentioned Sahko, but like I said those are long gone into the hands of friends. Maybe Cheap? In interviews he is very up front about his aims and influences and he definitaly bears watching. I love the power in this particular remix.

I admit it--I am loving Sleeparchive at least in part because it reminds me of those exciting days when I was discovering Sahko and Mego and the like. I am anxiously awaiting the new 2x12" in the mail...
